I remember clearly the Viet Nam conflict, two of my brothers fought a war that many back home disagreed. The veterans who came back, were emotionally traumatized by what they saw.
I think I was as traumatized by the anti war rhetoric by Americans and the media as I was by my father's death. I wouldn't even say how my father died for a long time for fear of someone calling him a baby killer.
Everything about the Viet Nam war was shameful except for the bravery of the men and boys who were forced to fight and die over there. Not to mention the women who served over there.
Forgiving the federal government for my father's death is not something I have ever been able to do. I never will.
